Standard Airlock:
Airlocks are often used in Shopping Centers, Stadiums, Airports and other venues that must cater for moving large numbers of people in and out of the building while reducing climate disturbance.
Not only do elements such as heat, wind, rain etc effect those nearby an entrance, they also have an enormous impact on the cost efficiency of air conditioners and heaters. An airlock aims to reduce these disturbances while providing an accessible entrance to all.
Sydney Airport handles over 29.1 million passengers a year, of which 9.8 million are international. Approximately 77,000 people travel through the international and domestic terminals each day. The entrances of the International Terminal are exposed to severe wind conditions so DORMA removed five revolving doors (due to excessive maintenance costs), and replaced them with a unique airlock configuration of EL301 sliding door operators. The system comprises of an external bi-parting slider and two single sliding doors. This reduces the climate disturbance - even with the continual heavy traffic flow - and allows convenient access to passengers transporting their luggage.
Vacuum Airlock:
This innovative system incorporates DORMA’s versatile automatic door operators with CleanScan actuation which allows a practitioner to pass through the first sliding door without making contact with it and allows them to de-robe while enclosed in an air-locked chamber. An air vacuum depressurises the room to sterilise the air before the practitioner passes through an automated swing door into the patient treatment area.
The Victorian Infectious Diseases Services at the Royal Melbourne Hospital utilises this ground breaking DORMA technology to prevent cross-contamination using interlocked doors and a positive vacuum airlock system.
DORMA Automatics supplied and commissioned EL301 sliding doors and ED200 swing door operators that are interfaced and compliant with the complex air lock requirements of the ward.
